
I am an applied economist whose work examines the intersections of gender-based violence, political institutions, inequality, and public policy. I use quantitative research methods to study how institutional reforms and economic shocks shape outcomes for women and marginalized/minoritized communities.

I am committed to equity, inclusion, and active learning. I design curricula that engage diverse students and have led professional development initiatives such a Financial Fitness and Gateway to Employment, for first-generation students.

Beyond the university, I partner with policymakers and community organizations to address issues of justice and equity. I serve as a certified violence prevention specialist and domestic violence & sexual assault counselor and advocate, and work with groups such as Peace Over Violence, East Los Angeles Women’s Center, and the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.
My work has been supported by the Haynes Foundation, Bank of America Philanthropic Grant, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Previously, Cal State LA, I have been honored with the Provost Faculty Fellow Award.
