Outside academia, I love spending time in the community and supporting in any way possible.
East Los Angeles Women’s Center
As a Certified Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor and Advocate, I volunteer at the East Los Angeles Women’s Center. I accompany victims/survivors of sexual assault for a forensic exam as part of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). I support victims/survivors by answering the LA Rape & Battering Hotline.
Peace Over Violence
As a certified Violence Prevention Specialist, I go out in the community to raise awareness around gender-based violence and provide education relating to available resources. I have presented at high schools, colleges, as well as to community groups.
Neighborhood Justice Panel
As a mediator certified by the City as well as County of Los Angeles, I serve as a panelist and mediator for the Neighborhood Justice Panel (City Attorney of Los Angeles).
